Return to UK for healthcare

Hello, I have just received the S1 forms from the UK now that I am officially a pensioner. The letter that came with them said "....from 6th April 2015 your right to return to England for all treatment including elective, has been extended. This means you can access NHS treatment in England as if ordinarily resident...this means treatment will be free unless a statutory charge applies e.g prescription charges. You will not need to obtain any kind of authorisation ...prior to seeking treatment"
Nice to know having paid my way for 40 years
Just makes life a bit more easy

If resident here, why don't people go on Cat Salut and get treatment here?

Belated birthday felicitations David.  Did you already have your Cat Salut card?  My sister-in-law, who lives in France, has just hit the same milestone but no such communique for her as yet.

Not quite 65 yet, tomorrow (25th) is the day. I got the letter from UK pensions by air mail last week. The 2 S1 forms I took to the social security office, along with some other stuff and they will send my SIP card through the post at the beginning of September. I aleady had a SIP card as I qualified as a dependant of a pensioner (my wife). I live near Vinaros, which is just in Valencia, so things may be different north of the proposed border !!
