Hi,

Anybody know of the best places to eat out in Tortosa, who do vegetarian food choice. I know it is a meat and fish dominated area, but hope there maybe somewhere in Tortosa.

Do be aware that the Spanish are not really 'au fait' about vegetarian dishes and therefore their ideas are somewhat different from ours.  We took a friend to a well-known restaurant in L'Ampolla and asked if they could do anything suitable for a vegetarian.  Yes, they replied and told our friend what they could do.  Great, he chose something suitable but when they served the dish it had been garnished with anchovies !! 

The old train station at Benifallet - which is on the other side of the river from Benifallet up a small road - accommodated a vegan friend recently.  I think they were able to do this straight off the normal menu though they did explain in advance their requirements to be on the safe side.  Big salad, vegetable paella or roasted peppers/aubergines etc. the previous time I think. 

Thanks everybody for your kind replies and advice, I will have to be careful and explain no fish either, I have found the problem of adding fish in other countries, thinking it is o.k for vegetarian. At least now I have some options.
