| Note The Spanish holidays tend to fall on a particular DATE and are not moved (as they are in the UK) to the closest monday. The result is that in certain years they fall on Sundays (Spaniards walking round with sad faces as they lose a day off). However when a holiday falls on a tuesday or a thursday they sometimes (as often as possible!) have a bridge day or 'dia del puente' (Spaniards with happy faces) this means the holiday is extended by a day as there's little point in working monday only to have a holiday on tuesday or going back to work on friday after a good party on thursday. Also note that various towns have their own extra days off so you may find that you were expecting the shops to be open but they aren't, also different provinces have different days as well (as if it isn't confusing enough!). |
