Sorry Hazelnut to cover your 'scraggy cat' thread.  You really must get out more.  Have you tried L'Ampolla?

Anyway, would like some feedback on some problems I am having with the swimming pool this year.  Trying 'Quimicamp 5 effectos tabletas - Quimiclor PS' this year for the first time.  Normally, in past years, I have only needed to keep 1 tablet in each skimmer each week or add an extra tablet during really hot weather.  However during these last 4 weeks I am having to use at least 5 tablets in each skimmer to try and keep the chlorine levels up!  Is anyone else finding they are using far more tablets than usual in their skimmers?  As, if not, perhaps it's the new type of tablet I am using.

You will probably find if you check your P H level it will be low or high and the chlorine is being used up very fast. Also a floating chemical ( tablet ) dispenser is a better option than using the skimmers due to calcification of the pipework.

Many thanks for your advice folks.  Maybe the hardness of our water is to blame.  Have just added PH up yesterday to the pool as the PH reading was a litte on the low side.

Jackflorrie1, where do you get your 10 multi action tablets?  I have not seen them selling in the Tortosa area although I suppose I have never intentionally been looking for them.

Hi Damo
Thanks very much for that.  Will pop in and get some next time I'm over that way.  Appears it is a PH problem which I am now managing with 'PH up' therefore have more residual chlorine in the pool. Rob

I have not seen or heard about 10 in 1 pool tablets before.
Could someone please tell me what the 10 action tablets actually do?

Try this
http://www.poolcalculator.com/

Brilliant site - enter your details like volume of water, current ph and chloro levels, then the levels wanted and it tells you quantity of chemicals to add.

Note if you need to up chlorine massively add bleach BUT get your ph levels stabilised and the chloro levels will be easier to stabilise afterwards.

Hydrochloric acid (HCL) will reduce ph massively (sold as the stuff to disolve cement and lime scale) if you've overcooked things but use it carefully its very corrosive.  Google your problem, that's what we did.
