Fruit Trees (Read 6131 times)

	Like many folk we have had our trees removed by the pipeline people, so now need to replant. Can anyone give me some rough prices i should expect to pay for orange, lemon, pomegranate, apple , pear and plum trees, or should i get some brought over from the uk? thanks

	You should be looking at about 5 euros I would have thought. Do you want me to ask my guy the prices for your list ? Might be a couple of days.

	By the way, I'm no expert but bringing them from UK moght not be a good idea. I think the local Vieros tend to sell varieties that do well here which might not be the case for all UK varieties. Don't know if there's any restrictions on importing plants ? One thing I've found out from experience is that citrus don't like being exposed to cold winds.

[/quote] Bringing trees legally from the uk are treated the same as dogs- you need a certificate for each one to prove they are non-diseased. Not sure how you go on with catalogue ordering from Hollandthough- some folk have done it that . Others have sneaked them in and amongst their belongings , but you run the risk of being caught. Besides local are best as they climatised. Oranges are replanted every 7 to 10 years so high maintenance. good luck!

	When we moved here from England a few years ago we contacted DEFRA and was told there was no restriction on taking fruit trees to Spain. The only recomendation was not to take citrus trees. We also had fruit trees sent to us from France and they all came with �passports� via the supplier. It certainly makes sense to use trees grown locally but we really missed bramleys so we bought some in.

	thanks very much Bigyin, really appreciated, now looking at the prices think we will just buy our trees here instead of bringing them from England, that is except for the russets and the bramleys of course! cant wait for planting season to come now lol! & thanks to everyone for their words of help and wisdom, much appreciated x
