Many of you know and are friends of Alan and Roseann Dodgson and are aware that Alan has been seriously ill for a number of years.

Sadly I have just been informed that Alan died today.  Roseann has asked me to put an announcement on the forum on her behalf.

On behalf of myself and the many forum members I would like to pass on my condolences to Rosann and her family.

Nigel

Thank you. Alan enjoyed nothing better than living on our little finca in Partida de San Bernabe. He loved it when he was allowed to sit outside and gaze up at Mont Caro. Two years ago he mentioned, with regret that he would never get up to the top as we had been warned his heart  and lungs would not cope. This morning the sun tipped the tops of the mountain as my sons spread his ashes from the very top and set him free to the sound of Meatloaf on the way up and The Who on the way down - his two favourites.
He suffered so much these last 2 years but has been ill for 32 years.

Never ever knock the Cat Salut, not Doctors nor nurses here! They have kept him alive for so many years of tranquillity, whereas England had given up on him - way back in 2003. They fought to the very end and said he too fought to the inevitable end. Now he is pain free.

I know he didnt believe but I just pray that he and our son Stephen are together flying high, both at peace. Thank you my friends.

Ive no intention of moving back to the UK. Now I must concentrate  my energies on nursing just one patient-bless her Dolly Daydreamer aka. my dementia ridden mother and writing and ...

So sorry to hear your sad news Roseanne. I have only met you once but I could tell that you are a 'fighter' and will carry on making the most of your life. I'm sure that's what Alan would have wanted. You must carry on with your writing and most of all look after yourself as much as you can. Take care.

Hi Roseanne
I don't know you but my deepest condolences. Sounds like it was a perfect send off for your Alan. And he had great taste in music!

Hi Roseanne
So sorry to hear about Alan, although we didn't know him long, he was a lovely man. As you say he's at peace now and pain free. Hope you are ok. Love Adrienne & David (Grasshopper's previous owner)
