Sealing Concrete Floors!

Hi,

What is the best (and most cost efficient) way to seal a new concrete floor to keep the dust down?
It is only a garage so I don't need an amazing finish.
I was thinking of diluting some PVA and spraying it on or maybe SIKA Latex.
Has anyone had any experience of this?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi I would use pva but make sure you dilute it really well apply with a broom is the easiest way then give another coat when dry make the second coat a bit stronger

The PVA thing will work to an extent but won't really stand any wear.  I seem to recall that concrete paint was pricey in UK so I imagine it's extortionate here.  ? Do the PVA and coat the high wear areas with something better.

yes I agree with the PVA,I did my garage floor in the UK a good  few years ago I bought some concrete floor stabiliser relay strong smelling thinners type stuff it penetrates deep but, was quite dear around £25 ishI  then painted with floorpaint.
but I am sure PVA mix will be OK ,is the floor damp proofed?if not will prob not work that well, but still worth a try.

If you put three layers of pva watered down each time but making it less water per coat that will stop the cement dust and seal the floor but will not stop any wearing where walked upon.
Many times in the past in the last coat we have added some emulsion paint to it you will then see where the wear is happening.

Hi,

Thanks all for the quick feedback!

As I'm not looking for a perfection I will try the PVA soloution.

Next question....where can I buy 5litres of PVA. I live near El Perello but I'm heading the Tarragona this week.

Cheers.
