You're all daft - you're so quick to sound off you've got excited and your posts mixed up; go up one level and look in the one about visits from Agents Rurals - your 'missing' messages are there.  Apologies to moderators are due !

And I don't care....why do I bother?

I'm certainly not daft, and my posting actually naming a criminal wanted by the Mossos d'Esquadra for lots of burglaries has disappeared, and isn't on any subject listing....................so your apology accepted in advance.

Hi, I did get some of my postings mixed up and I have apologised to Nige already on another posting!

Who is the person wanted by the Mossos? Surely it should be ok to name them, I mean, if they are wanted for anything serious then we should all know and the Police would not have a problem with this. All the posting would be saying is that they are wanted by the Mossos, not that they are actually guilty ( that is for the Mossos/Courts to decide )

So what is this post about eh?

I replaced the roof on my casita on the basis that it leaked or fell in and needed rapairing - that is what the Catalans do...

If the post is about heavy handed authorities, here is the guy we need to talk to:

The MEP for Catalunya - would love to chat to him about My European rights to live on My piece of land IN EUROPE!

See:
http://www.ebro.tv/video/A-Day-in-the-Life-of-an-MEP-Pet

Please comment on the video and share it and the MEPs name with all...   Wink Wink

If you have any visual material on this matter, please upload it too! Lets start making some noise...

Hi,

Thanks for the link.

I'd certainly like to write to the local MEP to raise a few issues on behalf of the minority groups in Catalunya, ie. the British in my case. Can you put his name and address on this site and I will ask my Latin American friend to translate my letter into Spanish. Maybe this forum could even put their names to a petition and forward this on? Just a thought.

Hi Gyronut44 - you say you are fighting to keep you place - are you fighting Ajuntament or Urbanismo and is it a new build Almacen.  We have a problem with Urbanismo and a new build Almacen (all with the Mayors and ajuntament architects permission) over the last 3 years have spent lots on specialist reports, solicitors fees etc etc - given them everything they requested - got to the point where it was costing nearly as much in fees as it cost to build so have now given up the legal fight and going down the MEP way.  Not sure if that will do any good but seem the only option left as cannot afford to throw any more money at the Spanish legal system. Undecided

I think Eden may be right and you may find your coffers empty into the solicitors hands very quickly. This is certainly what our friends found and they have now abandoned their property which has now been looted and windows, doors, etc. etc. removed. Have you contacted your MEP GYRO? If not then maybe speak to Eden and get some details regarding this. This whole matter really needs to go up to the European Court and be challenged there. I cannot understand why no one has taken this on as a test case??

hi everybody,i dont know what is going to happen in my case, although it appears to me that the authorities are targeting small random groups here and there, my feelings are that if they had a mass purge on everybody with suspect properties then there would be mass demonstrations in all the villages (in my case ginestar) but picking on a few here and there seems to be their tactics, this way they dont have that to worry about,
i just dont understand what all the carry on is all about ,nothing seems to make any sense in catalunya regarding property or anything else for that matter  ,nobody seems to know what is right and what is wrong,i dont get them at all,why have they allowed people to sell country land if they dont want anybody to live there,or are they protecting their legal system by conjuring up crazy laws to make money for their solicitors, Huh who knows but all i know is i wish I'd never heard of catalunya  Angry i dont think they have lived long enough under their own rule after franco to have learned what it is to run a country properly,my fellow countrymen travelled down here on buses and gave their lives for this crazy place Embarrassed

Hi Gyronut,

I'm affraid it does make sense. In Spain only 3% of the land is declared urban. And the reason for that small percentage is obvious; its the only way to make big money with building projects. The huge price-gap between campo and urban land is artificial and almost everybody wants to keep it that way to protect their investements. It's not nature-protection, its not they don't like foreigners, it's just politics and corruption. If it would be legal to build on 10-20% of the land (instead of 3%) the property market would collapse. The bottem line is:it is difficult and risky to build on rustic land and that won't change in the near future.

Mark

Hello from communidad Valencia.
The problems you mention  on this thread so far have not appeared a few km further south - touch wood. Rural land can still be bought and a house built on it as long as some rules are obeyed.
The land must be > 10000 sq metres
It must have water
It must have electricity
A debatable point is whether solar/wind power will suffice for electricity.
You must have an architect
You must have a builder
There are some houses currently under construction around here (Vinaros) in the campo
So, any readers in the UK who have been put off by the messages on this thread, the lesson is, do it right and do it in the Valencian community.
Sorry to those trying to sort out horrendous problems in Catalonia but I thought I would add a more positive view
David
